"new media" that doesn't currently exist.

One new media application that should exist is an app which would be to scan and do a self checkout. As Philip Zimbardo said "Depending on whom you ask, time is money, time is love, time is work, time is play, time is enjoying friends, time is raising children, and time is much more. Time is what you make of it". Living in NYC especially we barely even have time to play, or spend time with our loved ones. To make things worse we spend a lot of waiting in lines. We can't always avoid purchasing items online. One way or the other we have to go to stored to purchase items such as groceries or clothes, just because we prefer to actually have that experience to go in person. Now, if there was an app that could do a self checkout by scanning items from our phone and purchasing it, we could save so much time. Waiting in lines for a cashier or the self checkouts they have in some stored like Target always have long lines, which is frustrating. But, with this app, everyone just uses their own phone so they could be in and out in a few moments. This should be easily available on all mobile devices. And all stored such as Target, Walmart, or any grocery store should have function to automatically scan their product. While scanning it would just use automated e-payments such as Apple pay, Samsung pay, Pay pal, and more. This would make everyones shopping experience easy.

  1. This is a really great idea! It sort of reminds me of the Amazon Go stores that has started where there is no line for checkout and the customers just walk out with their purchases. Extending this process to all stores would definitely make it convenient to go shopping without the wait time. It could be convenient for people with little children that make it difficult to wait around.

  2. I really like this idea! I think it could be especially helpful during holiday seasons when all stores are packed. It may even help stores since people may be more willing to visit in person than shop online if this was an option.
